Surface Coating Treatments

Ark Racing Limited can offer a number of surface coating treatments, these include:

Powder Coating, Anodising, Nickel Plating and Zinc Passivating. Improving the finished appearance of the products and adding corrosion resistance.

Powder Coating

A type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured under heat or with ultraviolet light. The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.

Nickel Plating

A process of depositing nickel onto a metal part. Parts to be plated must be clean and free of dirt, corrosion, and defects before plating can begin. The nickel layer can be decorative, provide corrosion resistance, wear resistance. Once the piece has been prepared it is immersed into an electrolyte solution and is used as the cathode. The nickel anode is dissolved into the electrolyte to form nickel ions. The ions travel through the solution and deposit on the cathode.

Anodising

An electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts. The process is called anodizing because the part to be treated forms the anode electrode of an electrolytic cell. Anodizing increases resistance to corrosion and wear, and provides better adhesion for paint primers and glues than bare metal does.

Nickel Plating

Zinc plating is a form of electrochemical galvanisation.

The passivation of zinc gives extra protection and determines its final colour. Zinc plating is available on components made of steel, copper or brass

We also offer electroplating, GEOMET® and Chrome Plating.
